Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in automotive technology or a related field preferred.
- Must have a valid drivers’ license.
- Proven experience in automotive mechanical inspection, diagnostics, and light repair work, preferably in a dealership, automotive repair shop, or similar setting.
- ASE Certifications A1,A4,A5 are a plus
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems and components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems, with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment, hand and power tools, and computerized systems for vehicle inspection and repair tasks.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with a customer-focused approach and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and willingness to learn and apply new skills and techniques as needed.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to assess their mechanical condition, including engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, and other essential components, using diagnostic equipment and visual inspection techniques.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify mechanical issues, such as engine malfunctions, electrical system failures, and drivability concerns, and accurately document findings for transparent disclosure to potential buyers.
- Record inspection results and repair activities accurately and thoroughly using Copart’s proprietary software systems, maintaining detailed records for reference and documentation purposes.
- Adhere to Copart’s standards and guidelines for mechanical inspections and repair work, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of vehicle assessments and promoting customer satisfaction and trust.
- Collaborate with other team members, including Vehicle Inspectors, Cosmetic Inspectors, and Auction Coordinators, to facilitate effective communication and workflow coordination and support efficient auction operations.
- Provide courteous and professional customer service to internal and external stakeholders, addressing inquiries and concerns related to vehicle mechanical condition and repair status, and striving to exceed customer expectations.
- Follow safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe and clean working environment, including proper handling of tools and equipment, disposal of hazardous materials, and adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional education or certification in automotive technology or a related field preferred.
- ASE Certifications A1,A4,A5 are a plus.
