Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Working knowledge of computers to include Windows, Excel, and Word
- Mathematical aptitude
Responsibilities
- Responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, wiring, inspecting, testing and calibrating various types of control valves, regulator pilots, digital control valves, pneumatic control valves, and SCADA communications equipment
- Responsible for operating control valves, in order to maintain pressure and flow of gas. Perform weekly inspection on compressors, make repairs as needed, coordinate large-scale time-consuming repairs with Compressor Technicians
- Responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, inspecting, testing and calibrating regulators, relief valves, heaters, control valves, controllers, filters, transmitters, meters, SCADA equipment, valve actuators
- Responsible for adhering to DOT requirements regarding set points, monitoring setups, regulators and relief valves inspection, maintenance documentation, odorization injecting and testing
- Responsible for responding to emergency after hours calls regarding line breaks, compressor failures, station leaks, regulator failures, communications failures and station alarms (SCADA). Assess situation and coordinate/initiate repairs. Take the lead in repair assessment. May be called upon to act alone
- Responsible for injecting odorant into pipeline, testing odorant level by adjusting the percentage of gas to air, checking Transco and Columbia odorization procedures, quality control of new construction projects and new pipeline tie-ins. Make recommendations to engineering regarding changes to blueprints and schematics
- Responsible for maintaining field equipment, measuring flows and volumes from pipeline, assisting districts with billing and metering issues, providing data directly to customers on flow and pressure rates. Responsible for writing field control programs to run processes and correct problems
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned and required
Preferred Qualifications
- Mechanical and electronics aptitude to include some knowledge of engines, circuitry, power sources, etc.
- Good verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge of telecommunications equipment
- Knowledge of the gas industry
- Knowledge of pipeline operations
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics
