Requirements
- Master’s degree in Materials Science or Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related fields, or B.S. with 2+ years industrial experience in materials processing and characterization.
- Demonstrated experience with materials characterization techniques
- Hands-on experience in materials processing, such as particle size reduction, surface coating, or casting
- Hands-on laboratory experience with hazardous chemicals
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Responsibilities
- Perform materials characterization using various techniques including but not limited to particle size analysis, optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), and X-ray diffraction (XRD).
- Develop and refine methods to physically and chemically process ferrous solids and solutions to meet target specifications.
- Independently execute experiments including design, planning, data collection, data analysis, and presentation.
- Work hands-on in a wet laboratory environment to prepare and modify inorganic materials for analysis.
- Promote safety, especially in the development of new laboratory processes or experiments.
- Clearly communicate learning and progress across organizational levels and functions.
