Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- 6-8+ years of manufacturing experience, including previous management and/or supervisory experience.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training.
Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of the regional Manufacturing Engineering strategies across the US and Canada sites.
- Establish and clearly communicate all global and regional Manufacturing Engineering strategies to the site engineers (including safety and ergonomics).
- Report and drive improvements across the sites through the monitoring of the key Manufacturing Engineering metrics.
- Ensure the standardization of Jabil processes across the sites in accordance with the global and regional direction.
- Recruit, interview and hire Manufacturing Engineering team members including providing support for positions within the manufacturing facilities.
- Communicate criteria to recruiters for position candidates.
- Monitor team member turnover; identify key factors that can be improved; make improvements.
- Develop and maintain all applicable job descriptions for the Regional Manufacturing Engineering.
- Identify individual and team strengths and development needs on a regular basis.
- Create and/or validate Manufacturing Engineering training curriculum.
- Coach and mentor Regional and Site Manufacturing Engineering staff to deliver excellence to every internal and external customer.
- Create and manage succession plans for key Manufacturing Engineering functions within the region.
- Provide communication forum for the exchange of ideas and information within the department.
- Organize verbal and written ideas clearly and use an appropriate business style.
- Ask questions; encourage input from team members.
- Communicate group goals and needs clearly, on a regular basis, to the team members. Make their roles and responsibilities clear.
- Assess communication style of individual team members and adapt own communication style accordingly.
- Communicate key information to the sites within the region, the Regional COE team, and the Global COE Team.
- Know and understand the strategic directions of the Global Center of Excellence, Regional Center of Excellence, Jabil Design product development teams, business development groups, and Jabil’s customers.
- Define, develop and implement advanced Manufacturing Engineering strategies which contribute to strategically supporting Jabil. This should be reflected in the Regional Center of Excellence project list.
- Provide regular updates to the Regional COE Director on Strategic projects.
- Establish collaboration on technology development with Jabil Business Units, Work cells, Regional members, Customers, and Suppliers.
- Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems (i.e. modification of responsibilities or consolidation of tasks, elimination of non-value-added positions/processes, or complete re-engineering of positions. processes and systems).
- Utilize tools to monitor departmental cost and cost trends (i.e. forecasts), striving for continuous improvement.
- Ensure all projects deliver as much value as possible to Jabil and our customers, while meeting project plan milestones.
- Provide optimum advanced technology solutions and strategies through the effective management of people, systems, procedures and materials/equipment.
- Drive innovation, urgency and continuous improvement within our manufacturing sites by investigating, developing and deploying new technologies in the areas of systems, equipment, and processes.
- Provide exceptional support to external and internal customers and to the Global COE.
- Research and advise the Region of trends in capabilities and technology, upcoming market demands, supply chain developments/availability, and future goals for Manufacturing Engineering.
- Maintain active membership in at least two professional industry associations or consortiums; interacting and networking with peers in the field. Subscribe to, and read, trade journals, reports, white papers and magazines in regard to advanced technology and capabilities.
- Create and maintain a capability technology roadmap for the region.
- Evaluate trends within the ME discipline, and forecast the direction your team should take.
- Drive continuous improvement through reporting, analysis and management.
- Assess the adequacy of data gathering methods utilized by the Manufacturing Engineering teams.
- Assure that procedures are efficient and work instructions are clear.
- Assure that deliverables include summary reports , clearly presented, and professionally packaged for use by internal and external Jabil customers.
- Establish new systems if/where possible.
- Exchange knowledge and documentation with Jabil facilities worldwide to ensure information is shared throughout the Jabil organization.
- Offer new ideas and suggestions for improvement. Identify and implement new practices and processes.
- Demonstrate a commitment to customer service; anticipate, meet, and exceed expectations by solving problems quickly and effectively; making customer issues a priority.
- Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position.
