Requirements
- Composites Manufacturing Knowledge: Experience with developing tooling and processes for manufacturing composite materials including Pre-preg, wet layup, mold prep
- Bachelor’s engineering degree from an accredited program
- Excellent project management and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- 3D printing experience: troubleshooting, rapid prototyping, solving print quality issues
- Experience with cad software preferably 3DX/Catia: Design, Build and test tool jigs and fixtures to assist in composite assemblies and structure builds
- GD&T knowledge
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices
- Ability to learn quickly and multi-task in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment
- Strong verbal and written communication, organization, and leadership skills
Responsibilities
- Support manufacturing process and development for System/subsystem components of the aircraft
- Create standard library of supplies and consumables: release film, bagging plastic, peel ply, perforated film, bagging tape, other high value and high lead time consumables
- Perform engineering tests to manage excessive squeeze out during composite bonding processes
- Work with quality engineers to develop inspection processes for built parts
- Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Collaborate with product designers to incorporate manufacturing considerations into the product design phase, aiming to simplify production and reduce complexity
- Supplier Coordination: Collaborate with suppliers to source and evaluate new composite materials and technologies
- Project Planning: Develop and manage project plans and schedules for manufacturing projects
- Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency and quality
- Team Coordination: Coordinate with production teams, including assigning tasks and ensuring compliance with safety protocols
- Equipment Maintenance: Monitor and maintain manufacturing equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime
- Training: Train and mentor production staff on best practices, equipment use, and safety procedures
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve production issues, including equipment malfunctions and process inefficiencies
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to production processes, quality control, and equipment maintenance
- Reporting: Provide regular reports on production progress, issues, and performance metrics to management
- Process Development: Develop and refine manufacturing processes to support new product introductions, ensuring scalability and efficiency
- Prototype Development: Design, build, and test prototypes for new products to validate designs and identify potential manufacturing issues
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks in the manufacturing process and develop mitigation strategies
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications or training is a plus
- Interest in setting up new processes and mapping process flows through a manufacturing shop
- Interest in eVTOL industry and personal flight
