Requirements
- Total 12+ years of experience (including 5+ years as manager) with Bachelor’s degree or equivalent or 10+ years of experience (Including 3+ years as manager) with Master’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience leading teams of 5+ employees within a mechanical design engineering environment.
- Experience managing both direct reports as well as contractors.
- Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, including design principles, materials selection, and fabrication/machining methods.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the complete mechanical design process, including requirements specification, feasibility studies, design reviews, cost management, and scheduling.
- Handle multiple projects/programs in parallel with tight schedule managing the resources from various engineering disciplines.
- Owning several product lines part of Operations ensuring no downtime by troubleshooting the issues on the spot and providing fixture and tooling support needed.
- Data collection and analysis to identify the root cause of issues in the operations (Knowledge of 8D is preferred).
- Design mechanical components/assemblies in CREO as part of the individual contribution to the projects/programs managed.
- Manage the priorities of the Projects/Programs and the engineers involved in those projects/programs.
- Manage resource allocation, project timelines, and budgets to optimize team performance and project outcomes.
- Manage a team of multi-discipline engineers, conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and find opportunities for professional growth and development.
- Day to day collaboration with cross-functional teams to establish design requirements and achieve functional product design solutions.
- Hands-on experience in assembling products, fixtures, and similar other assemblies.
- Well versed in GD&T & Tolerance and stack up analysis for precise designing and also for reviewing the work of fellow engineers and contractors.
- Collaborate with suppliers to develop components and sub-system assemblies that will expedite the product development timeline and to ensure parts and assemblies are built per design, and cost and schedule requirements are achieved.
- Participate in the entire design/build cycle, including design, 3D CAD modeling, design review presentations, 2D drawing generation, procurement of prototype parts, system integration, and prototype testing.
- Manage subcontractor and turn-key suppliers while meeting functionality, timeline, cost and quality targets.
- Cultivate a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the field of Semiconductors is preferred.
- Fixture and tooling design knowledge gives an edge in this role.
- Excellent project management skills, with an ability to lead numerous projects simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
- Experience in several of these areas is desirable: CREO Parametric software, Design for manufacture (DFM); Measurement instrumentation, testing and data analysis.
