Requirements
- 15 – 20+ years Industry experience
- Superior understanding of investments, the marketplace (especially US Retail and North America Institutional), how buying decisions are made.
- The ability to build outstanding relationships and navigate, influence and drive a complex organization with stakeholders across sales, investments, BD, legal, operations, fund accounting.
- Creativity and ingenuity in ensuring we are maximizing the investment and delivery capabilities of our firm.
- A strong team leader and manager, a role model for work ethic and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Build close partnerships with the firm’s business leaders of US Retail and NA Institutional (as well as Private Wealth Management) to ensure we have a product lineup that can meet our growth needs and aspirations.
- Developing a dashboard and regularly inventorying the firm’s product lineup for its US Retail and NA Institutional businesses understanding the following: Today’s “flagship” strategies, What growth potential we have in the lineup – do tomorrow’s flagship strategies already exist?, What strategies should be rationalized or monitored for future rationalization?, What gaps exist in the spirit of gaining market-share against competitors?, Whether those gaps can be filled internally or externally.
- Consider all of the above to develop new product ideas working closely with Sales, BD and Investments.
- Assess the competitive landscape, what categories, managers and strategies are gaining traction and why? Answer the question of whether we have competitive offerings that we should be prioritizing, whether there are adjustments we need to make to our offerings (e.g. pricing, positioning, portfolio construction) that could make our strategies more sale-able. Work with Sales, BD and Investments on changes.
- Monitor manager’s who might be excelling from a performance perspective, but not from a commercial perspective in areas where we have gaps in US Retail and North America Inst channels.
- Partner with ETF & SMA leadership on the continued development of these delivery platforms, bringing knowledge of AB investment capabilities and strategies, and the marketplace. Partner with Sales and BD on prioritization and roll-out timing and plans.
- Execute upon new Product Development initiatives for US Retail, NA Institutional, and Private Wealth including coordinating with BD and Sales on roll-out. For Alts you will partner with Alts PSD team and for PWM partner with its Execution team. Build relationships with the US fund board and other key stakeholders.
- Manage the day-to-day of the product lineup for our US Mutual Fund business including fee changes, new share classes, new products, rationalizations, board proposals, impact of regulatory developments etc.
- Lead a team to help achieve all of the above. Provide inspirational leadership and opportunities for team members to learn and grow.
