Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, biology, planning, geography, civil or environmental engineering or related field. Or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience with CEQA and NEPA review and CA natural resource regulatory agency permitting, including experience with the electric/gas transmission and generation markets in California.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in California Coastal Commission and Local Coastal Plan Coastal Zone Development Permitting
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing successful business growth strategies with power generation, electrical transmission, renewable energy projects, mining, oil & gas, technology clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain long-term relationships with clients, and book personal sales in new IA consulting services.
  • Solid grasp of the key impact assessment and management issues, as well as a high degree of technical competence and broad knowledge of impact assessment best practices.
  • Well-developed teambuilding and influencing skills; unquestioned integrity; and the experience, confidence, and stature to effectively address client and business needs and challenges.
  • Positive outlook, collaborative, and driven by the success of ERM as a global company.
  • Strong commitment to safety, including following established health and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Contract Environmental Workstream Lead involving project reviews and permitting under CA regulatory permitting agencies such as United States Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, CA State Parks, National Park Service, US Fish and Wildlife Service, CA Department of Fish and Wildlife, CA Coastal Zone, etc.
  • Oversee several disciplinary teams to ensure client deliverable expectations are met
  • Build strong collaborative and trusting relationships with the client
  • Responsible for delivering client guidance to the team and ensuring it is followed
  • Interface with client contract owner and provide weekly updates
  • Provide technical guidance to junior staff supporting this work
  • Develop corrective action plans for client relating to schedule delays and staffing
  • Support unit rate pricing invoicing
  • Drive innovation within the Impact Assessment and Planning service offering to stay ahead of client needs and to differentiate ERM in the market.
  • Meet business health & safety performance standards, financial targets, overall project budgets and schedules, client satisfaction/expectations, and internal risk management and contractual requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in environmental studies, biology, planning, geography, civil or environmental engineering or related field; JD, CEP, AICP or similar registration.
  • 10+ years preferred of consulting experience with impact assessments, CEQA and NEPA review and CA natural resource regulatory agency permitting, including experience with the electric/gas transmission and generation markets in California.
