Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or paralegal certification is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of related work experience in property management operations is required.
  • Experience in dispute and conflict resolution, fair housing compliance, and risk management of legal matters related to landlord-tenant laws, leases, residents, and crime and security is preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of general legal terms, laws, and procedures related to the apartment industry, contracts, and leases are preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Products, including Excel and Word, is required.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and manage matters related to landlord/tenant law, including resident issues and disputes, AMLI’s policies and procedures, and changes in law such as evolving eviction and renewals, fair housing compliance, and rent control.
  • Evaluate, investigate, and identify crime, security, and other liability concerns and collaborate on company initiatives with local, regional, and senior management.
  • Evaluate, investigate, manage, and resolve resident issues via AMLI’s online incident reporting system in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Evaluate, investigate, and administer general liability incidents, including timely filing of claims and coordination with insurers and assigned legal counsel managing claims that progress to litigation.
  • Liaison with outside counsel to ensure legally compliant lease documents, policies, and procedures and to assist with dispute resolution, as necessary.
  • Participate in Legal & Risk Management educational opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in dispute and conflict resolution, fair housing compliance, and risk management of legal matters related to landlord-tenant laws, leases, residents, and crime and security is preferred.
  • Knowledge of property management systems and claims management software is preferred.
