Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, or Accounting.
  • Minimum 8 years related work experience in indirect tax with public accounting or corporation with sales in excess of $1 billion, including both tax accounting and tax compliance
  • Experience with various forms of tax authorities
  • Excellent tax research skills
  • Intermediate skill level in MS Excel
  • Experience with Oracle General Ledger system, or similar ERP
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Minimum 4 years direct or indirect supervisory experience

Responsibilities

  • Participate and collaborate in the development, support, and execution of new and existing processes required for HCSC tax savings strategies that reduce overall tax and administrative costs/burdens.
  • Support and partner with the HCSC Tax Audit team by analyzing and reviewing information requests, collaborates in the resolution of HCSC audit issues, and provides support for the tax audit defense process.
  • Support and partner with Director Corporate Tax, Vice President of Corporate Tax, and Tax Audit team on identification of tax contingencies, ensuring accurate analysis and calculation for both financial statement and income tax return disclosure.
  • Oversee the tax compliance process for indirect tax in order to manage the overall tax liability and continually develop process improvements.
  • Manage, integrate, and implement the tax accounting and compliance processes for HCSC mergers and asset acquisitions.
  • Collaborate with HCSC Finance Reporting, Treasury, and Actuarial teams on tax and accounting issues impacting HCSC’s financials. Includes determining forecasted income tax computations for the Actuarial Forecasting team and interacting with HCSC Financial Reporting on data requests, issue resolution, and general ledger posting issues.
  • Develop, mentor, coach and manage HCSC tax staff in order to ensure their development involving complex tax concepts and procedures, documentation and presentation requirements, research and writing techniques, business transactions, tax minimization and audit defense strategy.
  • Monitor tax legislation and provide advice on HCSC tax issues. Conduct or coordinate research with Tax Planning team regarding applicable tax laws in order to resolve HCSC tax issues and develop best practices for HCSC tax team to implement.
  • Coordinate correspondence with tax agencies as required with accuracy and expediency to avoid penalties, interest, and other potential negative implications for HCSC.
  • Promote effective communication within management and teams
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with co-workers, management, customers, etc.
  • Comply with HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Corporate Integrity, Compliance Program policies and other applicable corporate and departmental policies.
