Requirements
- Graduate of an American Medical Association (AMA) approved school of Radiologic Technology
- Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. R.T.(R) (ARRT), in good standing
- Certification in Mammography: R.T.(R) (M) (ARRT)
- Current state licensure (RL) required prior to employment
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Successful completion of 40 hours of mammography training
Responsibilities
- Review mammography requisition and computer exam forms to determine the type of exam required.
- Accurately position patients, determine the exposure factors, and operate mammography equipment according to established procedures to obtain a high-quality image.
- Review processed images to determine quality and the need for additional images.
- Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and the exam to ensure understanding and cooperation.
- Ensure patients’ safety and comfort during and after the exam.
- Acquire, archive, transmit, and print images via CAD and PACS.
- Complete after-hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork.
- Report any malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator.
- Process billing via RIS.
- Assist with all policies and procedures required by local, state, and federal law, and with compliance or credentialing bodies (ACR, MQSA, Medicare, Medicaid, FDA, etc.)
- Assist with instrument calibration and records to ensure compliance with quality assurance requirements.
- Perform equipment checks to assure proper function of and notify clinical engineering of any equipment malfunctions.
- Ensure exam rooms are adequately supplied with linen and related medical supplies.
- Provide teaching and mentoring to new hires and students.
- Strive to learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.
- Rotate through all diagnostic imaging modalities, sites, and/or locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist
