Requirements
- Completion of Technologist or Technician diploma (completed and verified prior to start)
- OR
- 309A/433A/442A certification
- Successful security clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Registration program is a mandatory pre-requirement for this position at this location. Must be a Canadian citizen normally residing in Canada, or must be a Permanent Resident normally residing in Canada. Must have valid and current identification (i.e.: driver’s license, passport, birth certificate). Must be able to provide a residential address and employment history of the past 5 years. If applicable, living outside of Canada during the past five years will require an international criminal name check.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative, corrective, and diagnostic maintenance
- Read and interpret schematics and drawings
- 12-hour rotating shift work
- Assist in the development and implementation of preventive maintenance schedules for equipment and machinery and conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance tasks to ensure equipment is in good working condition
- Support senior technicians in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and control system issues and perform basic repairs under supervision to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency
- Assist in the installation and setup of new equipment and machinery and support the implementation of upgrades and modifications to existing equipment
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders and equipment history and assist in preparing maintenance reports and documentation as required
- Follow safety regulations and company policies during all maintenance activities and participate in safety training and adhere to safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment
- Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to address maintenance-related issues and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure alignment on maintenance tasks and priorities
- Identify and suggest opportunities for process improvements in maintenance operations and participate in continuous improvement initiatives and projects to enhance overall plant performance
- Seek guidance and mentorship from senior maintenance staff to enhance learning and professional growth
- Assist in managing spare parts inventory to ensure availability of critical components
- Respond to basic emergency maintenance requests and breakdowns under supervision and assist in developing and implementing contingency plans to address potential equipment failures.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-3 years of manufacturing experience in a technical support role
- 1 year of electro mechanics, pneumatics, and hydraulics experience
- Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with little supervision in a team-oriented environment
- Experienced in PLC controllers and process instrumentation and automation
