Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1-2 years mechanical/maintenance experience, required.
- Possess good mechanical skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Must have a current Driver’s License with acceptable MVR.
- Must be on call to work in emergency situations.
- Must be to work weekends and nights as needed.
- Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on facilities including office buildings.
- Correctly identify and write down parts needed to build/complete projects to update and maintain the equipment and facility.
- Maintain and repair buildings’ plumbing and electrical systems, including replacing worn or defective parts such as switches or fuses.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair farm equipment, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, piping systems, and general facility.
- Perform general mechanical work including installation, fabrication, and repair.
- Ensure work is done in accordance with all policies and procedures.
- Follow all safety rules and policies and wear proper safety equipment as required, including but not limited to wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, etc.
- Responsible for being in compliance with all environmental laws and procedures to which Smithfield Hog Production subscribes.
- Incumbent will be responsible for understanding and complying with company SIPS, EMS and BMS policies and procedures while performing their job duties.
- Report all environmental issues immediately to their supervisor.
- Read and understand the company’s emergency notification process and will be responsible for reviewing that policy at their work site.
- Perform numerous other duties and special projects as directed by manager.
