Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in the maintenance experience with heavy equipment and truck maintenance and repair, crane experience strongly preferred.
  • Must possess a minimum of high school diploma or equivalent, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Strong organizational and technical writing ability for converting vendor manuals into plant-specific procedures, such as inspections and preventative maintenance.
  • Familiar with reliability tools such as Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
  • Solid understanding of Lean, 5S and other reliability process improvements tools in order to move the organization into a more competitive position.
  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritizes all maintenance and maintenance-related project activities to ensure optimal facility performance relative to available resources (personnel, finances, and allotted time).
  • Act as a Safety Leader to ensure individual and team Safety remain top priority in the planning and execution of all tasks.
  • Continuous improvement in maintenance approach, encourage initiatives intended to reduce safety risk, increase productivity and efficiency, reduce maintenance cost.
  • Lead in the promotion of a strong safety and environmental stewardship culture. Ensure good maintenance & reliability practices are followed.
  • Plan, develop, and implement new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
  • Lead the selection, assignment, development, coaching and performance evaluation of the maintenance team.
  • Manage Maintenance Shops comprised of both heavy equipment and diesel fleet mechanics.
  • Maintain the buildings and grounds to satisfactory metrics. This includes preventative maintenance for industrial equipment such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical landscaping. Winter preparedness duties and responsibilities.
  • Develop a 5-year long-term maintenance plan for the site.
  • Maintain a metric dashboard for maintenance that drives improvement and helps prioritize actions.
  • Develop yearly and monthly maintenance budgets and the activities to ensure alignment and achievement of budgets.
  • Provide overall leadership and direction for the site Work Management Program (WMP) to be cost competitive by utilizing correct application of best practices.
  • Support a Computer Maintenance Management System and other associated tools.
  • Drive reliability improvements and identify gaps between the reliability goals and plant performance.
  • Set expectations for the reliability efforts to develop solutions to repetitive failures through root cause analysis and through preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
  • Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
  • Confer with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems, and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
  • Manages the activities of the facilities maintenance department, ensuring the effective execution of the maintenance department’s job responsibilities.
  • Provides technical expertise and directs coordination of the department and support personnel in upgrading of equipment and development of systems and design changes for the enhancement of overall plant reliability, efficiency, and economy.
  • Oversees the planning and assures coordination of all participating site personnel and outside contractors in all major projects and scheduled site projects.
  • Position involves substantial planning of activities along with developing documented reporting.
  • Assures compliance with all government regulations, environmental standards and all plant safety procedures and programs.
  • Administers human resources within the department, participating in the recruitment and hiring of qualified personnel, completing annual performance/coaching reviews, assuring that all personnel are adequately trained, assessing each individual’s performance on a regular basis, and ensuring that corrective actions procedures are followed when appropriate.
  • Develop maintenance programs and schedules to optimize use of staffing and effective completion of preventative maintenance.
