Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial management, production operations management or equivalent field of study preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ manufacturing experience preferred
  • Fluent in English, French and/or German a plus
  • Skills and Technical sensitivity to manufacturing
  • Strong Leadership in technically demanding, multi-faceted projects in a local and international environment requiring autonomy, strength of proposal, sense of responsibility and team spirit
  • Ability to build intra-team relationships and collaborate at all levels of the organization
  • Used to work in a fast-growing business scenario, and at ease in leading change
  • Proficient in Micro Soft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc)
  • Excellent math abilities and working knowledge of data analysis/statistical methods
  • Strong communication and presentation skills for a variety of audiences
  • Food Safety Quality training and/or certification is a strong advantage (ISO 9001, FSSC 22000, SQF and PCQI)

Responsibilities

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement to maintain the plants’ operational and financial competitiveness
  • Establishes expert knowledge and technical expertise in running and troubleshooting powder technologies, box-drying, spray-drying, and the palatability processes
  • Define and simulate process flow diagrams and write standard operating procedures
  • Trains Operations personnel in the correct application techniques for new technologies
  • Supports all related areas in the development and implementing new business and maintaining the quality for existing business
  • Utilizes box/spray dry experience to expand and optimize product portfolio
  • Works directly with internal and external customers in product development, troubleshooting and finding technical solutions for box/spray drying
  • Works closely with Symrise Global Spray Dry process engineering partners
  • Occasional domestic travel to other Symrise Pet Food / IsoNova Production Facilities in North America or to the facilities of equipment manufacturers or customers may be required
  • Leverage learnings, ensuring best practices are shared and implemented
  • Drive superior performance by gathering, analyzing, and sharing key operational data
  • Ensure consistent and complete implementation of company policies
  • Maintain consistent adherence to federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
  • Ensure a culture with a strong commitment to safety
  • Delegate any maintenance issues to be resolved on each shift and small projects to the right skills in the team, planning and managing effective works
  • Develop and manage a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule that ensures full preventative maintenance is carried out, plan in missed maintenance activities, and lead the team to deliver effectively
  • Manage systems, equipment, data storage while maintaining a high level of standards and accuracy
  • Oversee that all training and development is up to date for all maintenance staff members
  • Attend various meetings and communicate instructions to all maintenance staff members
  • Oversee contractors on site to ensure they meet legal and company requirements
  • Govern maintenance policies and protocols in accordance with any health, safety, and environmental procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors
  • Identify business improvement opportunities within the organization
  • Supervise the process of disposal of obsolete machinery, plant equipment from gaining agreement to write off to physically removing it safely and with lawful disposal
  • Audit and ensure compliance of the engineering data systems
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
  • Provide technical expertise to the team
  • Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department
  • Schedule both internal and external work maximizing planned down time and reducing unplanned downtime
  • Ensure routine calibration and maintenance requirements of a variety of electro-mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems are undertaken
  • Safeguard designated buildings and plant equipment
  • Contribute to new business initiatives and projects
  • Prepare the annual maintenance budget, forecast all capital expenditure proposals as well as ensuring compliance with legal standards
  • Manage the budget from identification to completion of projects
  • Optimize equipment according to standard procedure while enhancing performance and product quality, guaranteeing the achievement of all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Develop clear accountability for maintenance material spend combined with a strategy to manage expenditure
  • Produce written reports and make presentations
