Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • Graduate of an accredited Licensed Vocational Nurse Program (LVN) or Licensed Practical Nurse Program (LPN)
  • Current appropriate state licensure and BLS certification required
  • 1 – 2 years’ related experience
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft office suite is necessary
  • Good communication skills – verbal and written
  • Successfully complete CPR Certification

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care pre, during and post procedure utilizing standard nursing techniques
  • Document patient related information in the individual patient record
  • Report any significant information, change in patient condition or equipment problems to the supervising RN
  • Confirm written orders, consents and lab work are completed and documented in accordance with facility policies
  • Act as scrub technologist to assist the physician during a procedure; maintaining sterile technique
  • Set up instrument trays for procedures
  • Assist with all emergency operational procedures
  • Administer intravenous medication in accordance with physician orders and state nurse practice laws
  • Maintain medication usage logs with appropriate documentation
  • Perform and document pre, interim and post procedural review of patient condition
  • Initiate basic CPR measures in the event of cardiac and/or pulmonary arrest and respond to emergency situations related to vascular access services
  • Transport patients as needed
  • Safely operate all appropriate equipment according to the proper procedures
  • Ensure a clean, safe and sanitary environment in the facility at all times
  • Ensure all blood spills are immediately addressed according to USV/FMCNA Bloodborne Pathogen Control Policies
  • Ensure that medical records are accurate and complete prior to discharge of patient
  • Assist with the inventory and purchasing of supplies, as needed
  • Participate in staff meetings, training and orientation as assigned
  • Comply with HIPPA policies and standards regarding patient information and medical records
  • Participate in cost control initiatives

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in an Ambulatory Surgical Center/Vascular Access Lab, or a combination of ASC, surgical, Interventional Radiology and ICU/CCU experience
  • Minimum of two years Interventional Radiology, scrub experience preferred
