Requirements

  • Valid FAA A&P Certificate Required.
  • Two (2) years aviation maintenance experience, three (3) years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two (2) years on the assigned LUH-72 (MDS) Mission Design series being serviced, is Required.
  • All experience must be within the Five (5) most recent years.
  • US Citizenship is Required to obtain the US Govt Security Clearance, NACI (T1) Public Trust.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
  • A valid Driver’s License is required.
  • Tools are Required. Mechanics must provide their own tools/toolbox. Tools must be shadowed and etched with PID.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
  • Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation.
  • Removes and installs aircraft subsystem assemblies and components such as engines, rotors, transmissions, mechanical flight controls and their components.
  • Safely prepares aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks and services and performs scheduled inspections and assists in performing special inspections.
  • Performs limited maintenance operational checks and diagnoses and troubleshoots aircraft systems using special tools and test equipment as required.
  • Receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.
  • Shall possess the level of experience necessary to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by skill class Mechanic I and must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions.
  • Shall have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, diagnosing problems, repair procedures and replacement of parts; requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.
  • Uses a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts.
  • Utilize knowledge of electrical theory and of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.
  • Possess working knowledge of technical publications and the Government STAMIS to make entries in aircraft logs and records.
  • As qualified and when required can perform non-crew member duties.
  • When required can use Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) for job duties.
  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned.
