Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in a professional work environment
  • Experience with Congressional or legislative affairs and the Congressional Authorization and Appropriations process
  • Experience with regular direct client interactions, including supporting project delivery, delivering presentations, and leading client meetings
  • Experience working independently
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience delivering communication products such as press releases, strategy documents, talking points, or senior leadership briefs
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree

Responsibilities

  • Provide a Navy and Defense client with a suite of action officer-level support based on the client’s specific needs
  • Analyze policies for Congressional affairs, public affairs, and administrative support
  • Provide analysis to support the development and implementation of DoD-wide strategy and policy
  • Analyze risk-based strategies for legislative processes and planning
  • Provide analysis to identify, define, and close requirements using the legislative process
  • Develop strategic communications programming and support public affairs activities for the client
  • Perform other administrative responsibilities, client-depending

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on Capitol Hill as a Congressional Staffer or in the DoD or Navy Office of Legislative Affairs
  • Experience with the Program Budget Information System (PBIS)
  • Experience with Navy ERP
  • Experience with NAVSEA
  • Experience reviewing and drafting appeals to Congressional Defense Committees as part of annual Authorization and Appropriations process
  • Knowledge of data analysis and visualization tools
  • Ability to track and comprehend acquisition and procurement goals as they move through the legislative cycle and plan, organize, and execute tasks with minimal direction
  • Possession of excellent creative thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
