Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven experience (3+ years) working in data engineering or data science, preferably with exposure to legal domain data and legal environments.
  • Strong expertise in database technologies, data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and managing ontologies and schemas, with an appreciation for legal terminologies, processes, and document structures.
  • Proficiency with data-oriented programming languages, frameworks and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive data structures, schemas and models that accurately reflect the firm’s legal services, processes and operations.
  • Design and implement ontologies that capture legal concepts, relationships, and hierarchies to support semantic search and AI reasoning.
  • Lead the processing and transformation of raw legal data into clean, structured formats usable for AI and analytical purposes.
  • Help develop automated pipelines that ingest, validate, transform, and enrich data from various legal sources, ensuring consistency and high data quality across the board.
  • Create, curate, and manage specialized datasets tailored for AI system evaluation and iterative development.
  • Research and implement emerging technologies and best practices in data engineering, data processing, and legal informatics, ensuring our AI systems remain at the forefront of innovation.
  • Help grow the firm’s capabilities and expertise in AI-enabled services and operations, such as by documenting designs, procedures and guidelines to ensure maintainability and facilitate knowledge sharing.
