Requirements
- Six (6) years of professional level experience as a prosecuting attorney in the state of Oregon.
- Practical application and knowledge of criminal law.
- Experience delivering structured training sessions or on-the-job training.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the instruction of law and legal topic classes to basic public safety students.
- Instruct a variety of law and legal topics classes, including but not limited to criminal, juvenile, procedural, use of force law, officer in court, mock trial, and report writing.
- Assist with the creation of instructional materials, including facilitator guides, student resources, and presentations.
- Monitor legislative and judicial developments for possible curriculum impact.
- Collaborate with partner organizations and prepare biannual legislative updates.
- Respond to constituent inquiries regarding public safety training topics.
- Research legal topics as needed to respond to constituent inquiries and/or to maintain curriculum currency.
- Schedule and conduct office hours and meet with academy students and staff on a drop-in basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing training on legal issues, including criminal law classes, juvenile law, procedural law, use of force law, report writing, and other related topics.
- Experience providing training to public safety professionals.
- Experience working alongside public safety professionals from different disciplines.
- Experience collaborating with diverse perspectives.
- Experience managing complex projects, facilitating workgroups, and ensuring program validity.
