Requirements
- Two years of automotive technical school with 5+ years of hands-on experience or a High School diploma with 10+ years of experience.
- Possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B without air brake restrictions, as required for the assignment.
- Expertise in methods, procedures, tools, and equipment used in brake service and inspection tasks.
- Ability to perform brake service or inspections through experience, training, or certifications.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and lead daily repairs and preventive maintenance activities for Laboratory vehicles and equipment.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Inspect completed repair work to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
- Maintain an adequate stock of frequently used mechanical and electrical vehicle parts.
- Manage service, repair, and ordering documentation, submitting necessary reports as required.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on various vehicle and trailer systems, including engine, ignition, fuel, electrical, hydraulic, heating/cooling, transmission, brake, and lubrication.
- Diagnose and repair reported system issues, dismantling and rebuilding components as necessary.
- Provide in-field repair services as needed.
- Assist and mentor less experienced mechanics in diagnosing and resolving complex problems.
- Recommend repair work to be outsourced and review completed external repairs before returning vehicles to service.
- Lead assigned projects and work groups as required.
- Perform occasional snow removal tasks using approved equipment after obtaining necessary medical clearance and training.
- Adhere to and uphold all environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
