Requirements
- Network architecture, ethernet, routing protocols, and systems architecture.
- Packet-optical technology, software-defined networks (SDNs), YANG models and APIs, and network cost optimization.
- Pluggable modules (client and lineside), digital coherent detection and digital signal processing, silicon photonics, and flexible ROADMs.
- Architecture, Maintenance, Management, Services and Process Flows.
- Optical networking equipment (e.g. Cisco, Nokia, Juniper, Fujitsu, Ciena).
- Cross-functional teamwork towards development of requirements and use cases in support of Metro & Inter-city SDN Infrastructure and Services.
- Solving complex engineering problems.
- Coding in Java, Python, and other object-oriented programming languages.
- Business acumen and aptitude to understand the key business drivers.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate optical transport technologies and recommend long term platform evolution.
- Write detailed plans describing functionality and interworking needed.
- Partner with suppliers to ensure products meet AT&T’s future network needs.
- Track important developments and new technologies among optical system integrators, component, and sub-system suppliers.
- Collaborate with a cross-organizational team and suppliers to define and develop feature requirements for AT&T’s next-generation flexible, SDN-controlled optical transport networks.
- Work with Layer-2 and Layer-3 partners to support their current and future services over the Layer-1 ROADM networks.
