Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years working experience in a Manufacturing or Testing environment)
- At least an additional 3 years of experience working in a Manufacturing or Testing environment
Responsibilities
- Daily monitoring of lab facilities to maintain successful and efficient operation.
- Work with GE Aerospace Facilities team, Union personnel, and outside contractors on facilities issues, improvements, and scheduled maintenance.
- Lead business critical projects related to equipment installation and upgrades.
- Coordinate with site Environmental, Health, and Safety representatives to ensure safe working conditions within the lab.
- Utilize FLIGHT DECK tools to facilitate change within the lab, in coordination with the FLIGHT DECK leader and lab personnel, to implement and sustain lean methodologies.
- Coordinate and create Standard Work Instruction.
- Lead lean transformations within coating processes to improve process quality and capacity.
- Lead team meetings focused on daily operations, quality, and EHS.
- Have direct report responsibilities for the technicians in COAT Lab.
- Work with engineers to complete assigned projects including development and documentation of process improvements and coatings applications.
- Adhere to a detailed schedule for a complex engineering and/or manufacturing development work scope.
- Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives.
- Maintain currency and compliance with GE policies, procedures and directives, including vouchering, reporting, operating, environmental and safety practices.
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks are consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
- Share engineering information, promote open dialogue, and support an inclusive work environment.
- Meet quality system requirements for Aerospace applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Manufacturing experience in a process engineering environment
- Experience with basic machinery/equipment and ability to troubleshoot problems
- Experience with machine maintenance and overhaul
- Experience working with special process equipment such as grit blasters, laser machines, thermal spray equipment, vacuum systems, and/or vapor phase/chemical vapor deposition equipment
- Experience using standard shop measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, amp meters, gauges and comparators) and shop equipment
- Experience with coating systems/technologies
- Robotic/PL/PLC programming knowledge
- Experience working a team-based environment
- Managed mid to large size transformational projects (facility relocation, restructuring, new product/process development)
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Lean Transformation, Operational Excellence
- Experience with Value Stream Mapping, Daily Management, Kaizen Events, Standard Work, Problem Solving, Visual Management
- Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
- Experience working in manufacturing, specifically in a shop floor environment
- Experience training others in principles of Lean methodology
- Project management skills with the ability to monitor progress, order materials, install equipment, maintain systems
