Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) desired
- 5+ years of related experience
- Certification is required in some areas
- Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to understand dynamic and complex subject matter
- Strong communication skills, both written and orally
Responsibilities
- Responsible for assessing local, state, and federal political environment and advancing policy agenda of the company within defined geographic region of Bay Area of California
- Establish and maintain relationships with elected officials and key stakeholders to support company objectives, with a significant focus on state and local government
- Lead cross-functional teams to support business objectives to grow the business and build out the network
- Serve as primary point of contact for AT&T within the community through engagement with third parties and key community organizations
- Support and resolve business challenges through engagement with key stakeholders to help ensure company success within defined region
- Conduct community assessments to determine organizations that would benefit from our corporate partnership in an effort to amplify the company’s citizenship and sustainability initiatives
- Collaborate and contribute to the state regulatory and legislative affairs efforts and policy objectives
- Promote the company’s policy agenda during public hearings, third party organization and before key audiences within the region
- Serve as company spokesperson at public hearings and community events
- Viewed as integral community partner and thought leader
- Serve as liaison between community and AT&T Foundation; supports local grant programs
- Assists corporate communications with media relations to grow the brand
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary
Preferred Qualifications
- 5-8 years of experience in related field
- Previous experience working with local and state elected officials and an understanding of government operations
- A strong understanding of political, social and economic issues within Alameda, Santa Clara and San Mateo counties
- Experience with utilities, telecommunications or technology is a plus
