Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering in mechanical, chemical, electrical, or engineering technology or equivalent
- Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience in power generation, heavy industrial, chemical process, or similar industry
Responsibilities
- Engineering Design of Direct Air Capture systems in support of the 1000 ton per year NPI program. Including thermal/fluid dynamics and process calculations, establishing flow charts, implementing components like pumps, compressors, heat balance, etc. This will also include flow diagrams, operational concepts, desorption/adsorption cycle, performance, material balances, equipment sizing, P&IDs, etc.
- Own direct air capture process design and key component sizing from conceptual through detailed design and validation.
- Create initial design concepts to solve for multi-variable challenges inherent in Direct Air Capture: product cost, energetics, serviceability, and life
- Interpret product requirements to understand customer needs and incorporate solutions into product design
- Iterate on design options quickly to find the best solution
- Design for manufacturability, assembly, installation, and service
- Analyze and refine the selected design option, collaborating with other team members to create a cohesive and unified product design
- Validate designs through engineering analysis and real-world scale testing, working with GE Vernova Advanced Research center to create test plans and review results.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in engineering in mechanical, chemical, electrical, or equivalent.
- Prior experience with New Product Introduction for Accessories or similar process equipment (air inlet, piping, valves, instrumentation, enclosures, etc.)
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, capabilities, and assembly procedures; especially in collaboration with external global vendors
- Demonstrated ability to work in a highly dynamic environment with constantly changing requirements
- Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning and self-directed skill development
