Requirements
- 4 years of relevant job experience or Bachelor’s Degree from a college or technical school in CHEMISTRY related areas. Job experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- No experience required for above college degrees.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills to be able to work well in both self-managed and team environment.
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting established deadlines.
- Comfortable working with hazardous materials.
- Strong interest in hands-on work to ensure a good understanding of the products.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Possess strong computer and analytical skills.
- Effective problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design of polymer synthesis experiments, conduct those experiments independently and collect, summarize and present the resulting data.
- Troubleshoot problems as they arise in the laboratory, collaborate with research investigators when erroneous or unexpected results occur.
- Identify and suggest improvements in methods.
- Document findings and communicate results.
- Make suggestions on path forward and contribute to work plans and manage daily workflow.
- Inspect and perform routine maintenance on equipment used to conduct experiments at the designated work location.
- Maintain appropriate inventory of chemicals and/or supplies necessary for the completion of experiments at work location.
- Maintain a safe working environment and participate in department and site safety practices.
- Interpret and communicate of test results using computer-based systems. Document experimental test results using computer programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Safely handle, categorize, and dispose of chemicals on a routine basis. Handle multiple tasks under strict time constraints.
Preferred Qualifications
- BS/BA (4-year degree) from a college or technical school with at least three years of experience in the synthesis of polymers or organic compounds in an industrial laboratory environment.
