Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Minimum three years’ experience in clinical laboratory setting as a phlebotomist or laboratory assistant, with good attendance and performance record.
Responsibilities
- Excels in all duties required of Laboratory Assistant.
- Proficient in all aspects of phlebotomy (adult, pediatric, newborn, arterial, venous, capillary) and assists with training of new staff in phlebotomy procedures.
- Processes all specimens including blood and non-blood while resolving issues and/or errors with specimens and/or specimen integrity and any specimen processing problems.
- Displays excellent communication skills with hospital and department staff.
- Strives to attain excellent patient satisfaction scores as well as actively participate in attaining department productivity goals, and assists with training of new staff to also prioritize these goals.
- Acquires all skills needed to successfully work in inpatient and outpatient phlebotomy, specimen processing for all shifts and all locations; and administrative tasks including but not limited to test orders, document filing, delivery, and storage.
Preferred Qualifications
- PBT (ASCP) preferred.
