Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in construction, estimating, engineering, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated interest in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and sprinkler (MEPS) systems.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to manage shifting priorities effectively.
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities, with strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Ability to read and interpret commercial construction plans and specifications accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing cost estimates for MEPS scopes across all project design phases – from Conceptual through Construction Documents.
  • Support in computing cost factors for project planning, bid preparation, scheduling, and vendor selection.
  • Help organize and review subcontractor and supplier bids to identify the most competitive and comprehensive options.
  • Assist with quantity take-offs for materials, labor, and equipment based on drawings and specifications.
  • Work with senior estimators to ensure all necessary information is included for accurate and complete estimates.
  • Participate in meetings with architects, engineers, and vendors to clarify details and gather data for cost planning.
  • Help prepare cost breakdowns for both internal review and client presentations.
  • Maintain and update cost databases and vendor/supplier lists to support estimate accuracy.
  • Support in generating value engineering ideas and reviewing life-cycle cost options.
  • Partner with project and preconstruction teams to review plans for constructability and project requirements.
  • Attend internal and external meetings to gain exposure to project discussions and estimate strategy.
  • Stay informed on construction code updates and industry pricing trends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with On-Screen Takeoff is a plus, but not required – training will be provided.
