Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or a degree related to the agency program that demonstrates the capacity for the knowledge and skills; and two years experience coordinating or administering a program
- Any combination of experience or education equivalent to five years of experience that typically supports the knowledge and skill requirements listed for the classification.
Responsibilities
- Planning, organizing, coordinating, and overseeing the daily operations of the Adults in Custody (AIC’s) Work Programs
- Developing and maintaining partnerships with community partners, corrections, industries, and the IWP team
- Ensuring smooth operations and compliance with legal and operational standards outlined in the 1994 Prison Reform and Inmate Work Act
- Managing several specialized programs, including scheduling AIC participation and maintaining security protocols
- Preparing correspondence, reports, and memoranda for the Executive Team
- Responding to AIC grievances, tort claims, and discrimination complaints related to work programs
- Monitoring the Performance Recognition Award System (PRAS)
- Coordinating AIC orientations and assisting with various institutional tasks
- Ensuring the safety and security of the facility by managing inmate movement and overseeing control procedures
- Educating the public, civic groups, and charitable organizations about Measure 17 and its significance within the Department of Corrections
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in corrections, conflict resolution, or related fields preferred
- Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to monitor and evaluate program operations typical to the area of assignment
- Experience in motivating, developing and directing persons as they work and identify the best people for the job
- Communicate effectively in writing for the needs of the audience
- Experience in selecting and using training or instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things
- Ability to manage one’s own work time and the time of others
- Identify measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system
