Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in mine waste management or a related field
  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration
  • Strong knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles and practices
  • Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, GeoStudio, etc.)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Design and oversee the construction of mine waste facilities
  • Conduct geotechnical and environmental assessments
  • Develop and implement mine waste management plans
  • Perform stability and seepage analyses
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of mine waste management systems
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and industry standards
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including geologists, environmental scientists, water resource engineers and project managers
  • Provide technical support during project planning and execution phases

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Experience with tailings dam design and management
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and permitting processes
  • Experience in project management
