Requirements
- Professional Engineer with 5-10 years demonstrated experience in roadway engineering design experience. Experience with urban roadway related to arterial/collector/local roads is considered an asset.
- Civil Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing with PEO.
- Working knowledge of transportation engineering principles and design standards such as OPSS/OPSD, Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) Design Guidelines and Ontario design standards for major municipalities in Ontario.
- Knowledgeable and proficient in the application of computer aided design/drafting programs including AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Competence in Microsoft platforms including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Excellent attention to details and ability to generate high quality work.
- Effective Communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work on several projects at a time with multiple design teams;
- A committed team player with a willingness to help others and collaborate with team members;
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
Responsibilities
- You will carry out preliminary and detailed design of municipal roads, analyze and process topographical survey information.
- You will collaborate on simple to complex urban roadway designs with engineering team members using Autodesk Civil 3D.
- You will design and prepare reconstruction or rehabilitation contracts of existing roads including arterial/collector/local roads, and full neighbourhood renewal with active transportation systems such as shared pathways or separated bike lanes.
- Prepare design quantities, cost estimates and provide technical support/engineering expertise to the tendering and construction process throughout the duration of projects.
- You will check designs, drawings and prepare specifications and contract documents.
- You will prepare proposals, technical reports and review shop drawings.
- You will interact with clients, contractors, and subconsultants in the field and meetings to review designs and resolve construction issues.
- Perform a wide-range of additional duties intended to support your growth and development within a professional engineering environment. Mentoring of junior staff is required.
