Requirements
- 6 years of experience in a natural resource or environmental field
- 1 year of experience at a technical or professional level performing activities in a natural resource program such as researching and analyzing data, conducting investigations, applying pertinent laws and regulations, or coordinating and monitoring project activities
- Bachelor’s degree in physical science, environmental science, natural resources, or a closely related field may substitute for 3 of the required years of experience.
Responsibilities
- Support the agency in achieving the goals of the Integrated Water Resources (IWR) Strategy in DEQ’s Eastern Region
- Provide technical assistance and water quality information during the development of local integrated water resource plans
- Work closely with DEQ staff and other agencies to review applications and make recommendations on grant funding
- Work with agency staff, tribal governments, local officials, and other interested parties to improve coordination and implementation of DEQ’s IWR program processes related to water quality and water quantity
- Develop tools, procedures, guidelines, and other resources to support DEQ’s statewide IWR Program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated understanding of environmental justice and the historical impacts for marginalized and underrepresented communities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Program improvement experience
- Experience working with the laws, procedures, principles, and regulations governing Federal and State water quality programs
- Experience evaluating water quality data using statistical and other analytical methods
- Experience conducting field work, environmental sampling, and/or inspections
- Experience with project management, including time constrained projects, and program development and implementation
- Demonstrated experience building and fostering relationships with a diverse group of partners.
