Requirements

  • B.A. (or equivalent degree) – a higher level degree may substitute for relevant experience
  • Typically, 6+ years of progressive aviation experience, which includes 0-2+ years of management experience
  • Ability to understand technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications
  • Proficiency with applicable inspection tools
  • Active, current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification and Inspection Authorization (IA) certification
  • Current Active Secret Clearance is required

Responsibilities

  • Manage site quality operations in a safe and effective manner supporting mission objectives and contract metrics are met.
  • Interfaces with the Company’s Quality Management Team, Field Manager, Aircraft Maintenance Manager, and Government CBP Management and Flight personnel.
  • Supports Safety of Flight by ensuring properly trained and qualified Quality Assurance Representatives/Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representatives are available to support all operations of the site/detachment.
  • Organizes and schedules surveillances and self-assessments as necessary to provide feedback to program leadership.
  • Supports and conducts audits as required to ensure the site is ready for AS9100D certification.
  • Provides input to leadership in supporting Root Cause/Corrective Actions for Non-Conformances.
  • Schedules and conducts validation on Corrective Actions to ensure they are effective.
  • Recommends and manages Continuous Improvement projects at the site and coordinates approvals when required.
  • Enforces work standards and reviews/resolves work discrepancies to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Point of contact for Quality with the Government Project Officer (PO)/ Contract Officer Representative (COR) at their site.
  • Support the SMS through the Aviation Safety Official by reporting required data.
  • Investigate mishaps and report findings to leadership.
  • Participates in Program Management Reviews (PMRs) between the contractor and the CBP Customer.
  • Conducts and validates business practices to ensure both government and contractor requirements are met.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous management or lead experience; the ability to recruit employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military
  • Advanced experience and knowledge of aircraft, aircraft systems, equipment and parts
  • Comprehensive understanding and experience with the practical application of product audit and inspection processes and procedures
  • Comprehensive understanding of civil or government aviation inspection operations and/or FAA Repair Station operations
  • Thorough understanding of 14 CFR Chapter 1
  • Experience as an FAA Designee for Conformity Inspections
