Job Description

The Human Resources Manager is a pivotal role within Fortune Brands Innovations, providing HR Business Partner support for the Outdoors Business Unit. This position involves guiding and advising VPs, directors, and managers on key HR activities such as organizational design, talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, and more.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree and over 5 years of HR Business Partner experience in a global, matrixed environment. They should possess excellent communication skills, be highly organized, and have a proven ability to build trusted partnerships with senior leaders. Preferred qualifications include SHRM certification and significant experience in change management and talent development.

Position location: Deerfield, Illinois – Hybrid (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)

RESPONSIBLIITIES

What you will be doing:

  • Serve as an associate advocate, internal consultant, and business partner with all levels of management on human resources issues. Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Partner across the Outdoors Business Unit to drive associate development plans ensuring a clear career path and development opportunities for all on the team. Play a key role in succession planning and organization talent reviews.
  • Diagnose problems, as well as identify and drive creative and appropriate solutions, using analytical capabilities and the ability to influence business leaders with data-driven recommendations.
  • Supports organizational design and organizational effectiveness within the Outdoors organizations to ensure the businesses are operating optimally.
  • Drives change management by developing and implementing solutions to organizational changes as well as leading and coaching others through change.
  • Partner closely with HR COEs and other HRBPs across the organization to develop and drive support of ongoing HR transformation.
  • Works with people managers and associates on employee relations issues and development actions. Conducts investigations, supports leaders in developing performance improvement plans and provides timely coaching to support performance and our culture and values.
  • Partners with talent acquisition and leaders on staffing for the Outdoors Business Unit including interviewing support, hiring decision support, and developing offers.
  • Collaborates with leaders in developing onboarding plans to ensure a successful 30-60-90-day approach and thoughtful introduction to the organization, team and role.
  • Manages the exit process by reviewing exit interviews and acting on the feedback back to the manager and leader.
  • Plans and executes organization initiatives and processes including engagement survey, annual HR processes such as merit, bonus, and performance, planning and other processes and compliance initiatives.
  • Comply with all legal and governmental requirements to include OFCCP/AAP, EEO, ADA, Veterans, FMLA and Worker’s Compensation.
  • Manages training & career development within the Outdoors businesses including building future-state rotational programs, deploying core internship/co-op programs and other talent programming to support talent across the organization.
  • Role may include support of other departments over time.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (Degree in HR, Business, or relevant field preferred)
  • 5+ years of HR Business Partner experience in a highly matrixed, global environment. This experience should include organizational design and development, talent initiatives, change management and building trusted partnerships with VP and Director level leaders.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required; ability to communicate with associates at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • SHRM-(S)CP or (S)PHR certification preferred.
  • Highly developed skills in COE partnership, change leadership, talent attraction and retention and organizational design, development, and culture.
  • Significant experience in change management.
  • Proven ability to quickly build trusting and collaborative relationships with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated experience working with leaders, including identifying needs, developing action plans, and presenting results/recommendations.
  • Ability to translate complex business challenges and requirements into innovative solutions.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and partner with cross-functional teams influencing others to act and deliver results.
  • Applies organizational agility in a matrixed environment to achieve shared objectives.
  • Collaborative work style with ability to solicit input, influence and support decision making.
