Job Description Summary:
Conduct research, along with life scientists, chemists, and medical scientists. Support the design of hardware or software for medical uses. Evaluate the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of biomedical equipment. Write protocol documents to support the testing of medical equipment. Conduct training or in-services to educate clinicians and other personnel on the proper use of equipment to support testing. Analyze new medical procedures to forecast likely outcomes. Collaborate with manufacturing or quality staff to prepare product specification, standard operating procedures, user manuals, and validation reports. Design or conduct follow-up experimentation, based on generated data, to meet established process objectives. Maintain databases of experiment results. Prepare technical reports, data summary documents, or research articles for regulatory submissions, or patent applications. Hybrid/In-office remote position.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Engineering (any), Psychology (any) or related fields of study and one (1) year of experience in the job offered or related occupation in which the required experience was gained. In lieu of a Master’s degree in Engineering (any), Psychology (any) or related fields of study and one (1) year of experience, the employer will also accept a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (any), Psychology (any) or related fields of study and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation in which the required experience was gained. Must have demonstrated experience with: Medical device or similarly regulated industry; working with and across various groups and levels within the organization, including other engineering groups, marketing, clinical, and regulatory; understanding of FDA and EU regulations related to usability engineering and risk management; usability engineering and risk management standards and guidance (IEC 62366-1, ANSI HE75, ISO 14971, FDA Human Factors guidance); medical device product development within a design controls process; working within a quality system at a regulated medical device or pharmaceutical company; demonstrated ability to apply user-centered design techniques and usability engineering methods to product design and development in a fast-paced environment; demonstrated ability in writing highly accurate, clear, and concise usability engineering documents. (i.e., task analysis, usability risk analysis, external complaints summaries, use specifications, test reports/root cause analyses); supporting risk management activities including post-market surveillance; working with cross-functional teams in planning and support of execution of design validation testing activities; and digital project collaboration tools (e.g., MS Teams, JIRA, or MIRO etc.).
Salary offered for the position is: $104,061.03 – $133,000.00/year.
