Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field and ten (10) years of related experience.
- Master’s degree and eight (8) years of related experience OR PhD and six (6) years of related experience.
- U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and integrate high energy laser systems and subsystems.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams including optics, electrical, mechanical, and software engineering.
- Develop and maintain system-level requirements, interface documents, design specifications, and test plans.
- Support technical reviews and provide clear communication to internal teams, partners, and government stakeholders.
- Identify, track, and mitigate technical risks across the program lifecycle.
- Contribute to test planning, system validation, and data analysis from lab and field events.
- Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing within the technical team.
- Stay current with trends and advancements in HEL, directed energy, and related defense technologies.
- Support proposal efforts and technical solution development for new business pursuits.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
- Strong background in laser physics, optical engineering, and systems engineering principles.
- Experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
- Excellent problem-solving, technical writing, and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with defense applications of directed energy or HEL systems.
- Familiarity with military standards, test protocols, and system qualification processes.
- Proficiency in optical modeling and simulation tools (e.g., Zemax, FRED, Code V).
- Experience with power and thermal management systems for high power lasers.
- Active DoD security clearance (Secret or higher).
