Requirements

  • Fundamental understanding of legislative and regulatory proceedings and how they interact with the energy industry.
  • Ability to work effectively with others to resolve issues as part of a team.
  • Strong written, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to accurately and concisely summarize complex regulatory dockets and legislative text.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office tools such as Word and Excel.
  • Planning and organizational capabilities, along with independent problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the tracking and evaluation of federal, state, and local policies affecting Capital Power’s existing operations and development ambitions in Arizona, including changes to federal tax programs under the Inflation Reduction Act, state renewable energy goals, and regional implications under the Clean Air Act.
  • Develop memos, presentations, and other information to support company decision making and strategy impacted by government and regulatory bodies.
  • Attend stakeholder meetings and industry events with regional and state groups supporting our Arizona energy strategy.
  • Conduct research on industry trends, supply chain developments, and policy practices in other markets that can inform advocacy, support policy development, and guide the business strategy.
  • Track and summarize key dockets from the Arizona Corporation Commission.
  • Develop relationships with and collaborate with other cross-functional teams such as Commercial, Communications, and Trading.
