Requirements

  • A deep understanding of benefits, including the ability to effectively leverage various benefits and wellness programs to enhance the employee experience.
  • 8+ years of experience managing benefits or compensation programs, preferably in high-growth, technology, or public companies.
  • Experience in navigating the complexities of global benefits practices, particularly in regions such as Brazil, Canada, China, Thailand, Japan, US, and Europe.
  • A proven track record of building and leading effective teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • A creative and strategic mindset with the courage to challenge the status quo and drive continuous improvement.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to switch between tactical execution and strategic planning as the company grows.
  • In-depth experience working in a global environment, with an understanding of the financial, legal, and tax implications of international benefits programs.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to distill complex topics into simple, actionable insights for various audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Evolve Lumentum’s benefits strategy to attract and retain top talent, supporting our continuous growth and fostering a culture of well-being.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and administration of all employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, recognition programs, absence management, Return to Office programs, and other voluntary benefits.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing global benefits team, ensuring alignment with company goals and driving employee engagement through innovative benefits solutions.
  • Roll up your sleeves to support the team if/when needed—whether solving complex benefits issues, optimizing processes, or stepping in where needed to ensure success.
  • Partner with finance, legal, and HR teams to deliver benefits programs that are budget-conscious, market-relevant, and compliant with local and global regulations.
  • Negotiate with carriers and brokers to secure competitive coverage and services, presenting compelling business cases for changes when needed.
  • Develop training and communication programs to educate leaders, managers, and employees on our benefits and wellness offerings, fostering a culture of awareness and engagement.
  • Research and implement global best practices and emerging trends in benefits to ensure our offerings remain competitive and innovative.
  • Lead the benefits integration process during mergers and acquisitions, ensuring smooth transitions and alignment of new teams into existing programs.
  • Design and execute communication strategies that effectively promote our total rewards programs to employees at all levels.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, FMLA, COBRA) by conducting regular audits and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and global regulations.
  • Strategize and lead the annual benefits open enrollment process, ensuring clear communication and smooth execution. Organize and execute enrollment fairs and activities that promote excitement to the workforce.
  • Design, implement, and scale wellness programs globally, using data to articulate ROI and measurable outcomes that benefit both the company and employees.
  • Ensure that U.S. health, retirement, and voluntary benefits programs are optimized for employee engagement, cost-effectiveness, and compliance.
  • Partner with local providers and stakeholders to optimize healthcare, retirement, and leave programs for Canadian employees.
