Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Two (2) years of directly related experience
- One (1) of the following certifications must be obtained within twelve (12) months of hire: Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) Certification or Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) Technical Certifications (e.g., ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Enterprise, and ArcGIS Developer certifications)
Responsibilities
- Analyzes, maintains, and troubleshoots the city’s GIS infrastructure, including ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, Enterprise Geodatabase, ArcGIS Server installations, and VertiGIS.
- Responds to and fulfills user requests for GIS application support, database assistance, and data design needs.
- Supports and collaborates with partner departments through system maintenance, ongoing updates and troubleshooting.
- Conducts and develops advanced spatial analysis, GIS tools, and scripts to solve complex problems.
- Creates user guides, best practices, and troubleshooting documentation for GIS applications.
- Troubleshoots and documents GIS applications and scripts, including fixes and known issues.
- Assists with facilitating monthly meetings to discuss GIS projects, workflows, and challenges to provide recommendation and gather information.
- Assists and contributes to special projects and cross-departmental initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Science, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, or a related field
- Experience in ArcGIS Enterprise Suite (Portal, Server, Online, Pro)
- Managing large spatial datasets and optimizing database performance
- SQL and spatial databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Oracle Spatial, MySQL)
- ArcGIS Monitor
- Automation tools like ModelBuilder, Python (ArcPy), or FME
- Developing and maintaining GIS web applications using APIs such as Esri’s JavaScript API or Leaflet
- Collaborating across teams and work with stakeholders
- Working on GIS projects within an IT department or government setting
