Requirements
- 2+ years of energy (or related industry) experience preferred
- Strong organization skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Able to work 12 hour shifts which includes working nights, weekends, and holidays to ensure 24 hour coverage of trading desk
- Experience, understanding and responding to power market fundamentals
- Ability to demonstrate analytical and problem solving skills and participate in solution implementation
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to be a self-starter capable of working effectively in a high energy, high stress, fast paced environment
- Detail oriented and able to effectively work under deadlines
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills
Responsibilities
- Interacts daily with both the DA and Cash traders on strategy implementation
- Anticipates and responds to changing system conditions for balancing energy deployments to effectively and economically dispatch fleet
- Recognizes changing market conditions and initiates appropriate action within own area of focus to balance fleet position
- Optimize gas burn strategies across ISONE and NYISO markets by aligning unit dispatch with real-time fuel economics, pipeline constraints, and market conditions
- Coordinate closely with the Gas Supply team to align nominations, manage intra-day flow changes, and ensure compliance with contractual limits
- Respond to OFO (Operational Flow Order) gas restrictions, minimizing exposure to imbalances and avoiding non-compliance penalties
- Maintain clear, timely communication with Plant Operations and Gas Logistics to ensure reliable fuel availability and operational flexibility
- Assess risk exposure tied to gas limitations, balancing market opportunity with fuel security under high-demand or constrained system conditions
- Operate effectively in high-pressure environments, especially during peak demand, fuel disruptions, or reliability event declarations
- Contribute to the enhancement of gas-electric coordination tools and processes, improving both commercial and operational outcomes
