Requirements
- JD from an accredited law school and active license to practice law
- 15+ years of legal experience, including 5+ years in a senior legal role in healthcare, in house experience required
- Proven expertise in healthcare law and regulations, with a deep understanding of value-based care models
- Experience advising high-growth companies and scaling legal infrastructure in dynamic, fast-paced environments
- Exceptional judgment, strategic thinking, and ability to convey complex legal issues in clear, practical terms
- Skilled in contract negotiation, risk mitigation, and litigation management
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing legal teams and fostering collaboration across departments
- Comfortable operating autonomously while also working cross-functionally with a business-oriented mindset
Responsibilities
- Develop and lead Homeward’s legal strategy, aligning with business goals and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations at federal and state levels
- Serve as a trusted legal advisor to the executive team and board of directors on a broad range of issues, including corporate governance, strategic partnerships, regulatory and employment risks
- Oversee and optimize contract negotiation and management across all business units – providers, payers, vendors, and partners
- Anticipate and proactively manage legal risk, including identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks related to value-based care models
- Lead the resolution of legal disputes and manage any litigation matters
- Partner cross-functionally to support legal needs across operations, compliance, finance, and product
- Maintain corporate records and ensure adherence to best practices in governance and company policy
- Build and lead a high-performing legal team, promoting operational excellence and business enablement
- Stay abreast of legal and regulatory developments, particularly in value-based healthcare, fraud and abuse requirements, telehealth laws, AKS, HIPAA, and state data privacy laws
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with mergers and acquisitions in healthcare
- Familiarity with intellectual property law, especially in healthtech and innovation
- Expertise in data privacy and security regulations, including HIPAA and related frameworks
