Requirements
- PhD degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Statistics, Computational Science or related discipline required.
- 3+ years professional experience in data science, analytics, predictive modeling, quantitative modeling, or a related domain required; experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or optimization are preferred.
- 3+ years of experience with Python, R, SQL, or other analytical software for data science applications in industry or academic settings required; programming experience with neural networks, machine learning (with Tensorflow, Keras, or Pytorch), and cloud-based deployment platforms (AWS, Azure) are preferred.
- 1+ year of teaching in higher education experience required; experience teaching online in higher education is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Teach and develop online and/or onsite undergraduate and graduate courses in Data Science.
- Maintain pedagogical and subject matter expertise in data science, especially AI and machine learning.
- Create an inclusive and positive learning environment.
- Ensure course and program practices align with compliance and accreditation standards.
- Adhere to the National University’s academic integrity policy.
- Maintain a productive scholarship agenda suitable to a teaching university, including leading student research projects.
- Engage in scholarly activities to maintain professional growth.
- Participate in professional development as outlined in faculty policies.
- Participate in curriculum oversight, shared governance, and the student experience.
- Serve on committees at the program, department, school, college or/and university level and engage in community activities that promote program outreach and university goals.
- Participate in program meetings and advisory boards to integrate best practices and strategic initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or optimization are preferred.
- Programming experience with neural networks, machine learning (with Tensorflow, Keras, or Pytorch), and cloud-based deployment platforms (AWS, Azure) are preferred.
- Experience teaching online in higher education is preferred.
