Requirements
- BS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of relevant testing experience including pumps, valves, propulsion elements, sensors, and/or piping.
- Experience with space vehicle component or subsystem testing including structural, vibe, acoustic, modal.
- Experience mentoring test engineers.
- Understand the Test Like You Fly assessment and exception process.
- Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills.
- Experience working collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment.
- Ability to support shift-work as needed to meet customer demands.
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
- Identify opportunities for safety improvements and cost savings.
- Demonstrate high standards in test operations and work cooperatively with a diverse team of Integration Engineers, Responsible Engineers, and BLUE customers to ensure requirements are met.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Responsibilities
- Apply direct experience to fluids component and subsystem test planning and execution, which could include development, qualification, acceptance, performance, and environmental testing.
- Identify test events, needs and equipment required for test.
- Mentor Lunar Test Engineers.
- Apply experience with test facility instrumentation and Data Acquisition and Control Systems.
- Create and review Test Plans, Test Procedures, safety assessments, schematics, and other engineering artifacts.
- Design, procure, and install test support equipment; manage vendors and subcontractors during installation.
- Lead and/or direct Level I and Level II test engineers through various test campaigns.
- Troubleshoot issues that arise during testing.
- Participate in test readiness reviews, pre- and post-test briefings, and post-test reviews.
- Manage procedural redlines and updates during test campaigns.
- Coordinate test crews, support equipment and vehicle configurations for testing.
- Enforce safety policies during test planning and operations.
- Integrate between fluids subsystems and overall system level vehicle to ensure component level testing is in compliance with overall vehicle test plans.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with aerospace flight hardware
- Established technical expertise in test stand design, operations, and maintenance
- Experience utilizing space and industry standards such as MIL-STD-810, SMC-S-016, and MIL-STD-1540
- Knowledge of a variety of fluids; experience with cryogenics and monopropellants is a plus
- Instrumentation and controls, and data acquisition systems experience, with preference towards National Instruments hardware
- Knowledge of systems engineering practices, fabrication and integration processes, and quality control
- Understanding/experience with hazardous operations and design for system safety
- Strong Project Management skills to include budgeting and schedule development
- Experience with 3D CAD tools and data management
