Requirements
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
- 2+ years of proven experience in detail design / development of aerospace or equivalent-type fluid systems and project management
- Responsible Engineer designation to manage a system with multiple designers working under their direction
- Solid understanding of fluid components such as valves, regulators, and fittings
- Knowledge of fabrication, integration processes and quality control relative to tubes/piping and machined components
- Solid understanding of materials and treatments
- Experience leading at least 1 multi-person development project, managing requirements, priorities, scope, schedule, cost, and communications
- Experience and ability to work independently on rapid development programs
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
Responsibilities
- Engage in the entire design cycle of fluid subsystems including conceptual design, thermo-fluid modeling, structural layout and analysis, integration, test and mission support
- Collaborate with many internal team members to define requirements, dependencies, and schedule needs associated with delivering integrated fluid systems
- Lead team-based identification, decomposition, and estimation of work scope for full lifecycle fluids hardware development
- Manage project schedule, resources, and cost – present status of effort, including risks, variances and recovery plans to program management
- Integrate hardware schedules with program and vehicle schedules
- Work to continuously improve the team processes and manage team assignments to move quickly while meeting human space flight standards
- Continuously supervise all hardware technical performance measures to ensure the development team is meeting its defined performance goals
- Perform procurement, integration support, and discrepancy resolution
- Lead all aspects of fluid component and subsystem level testing including test planning, test execution, data reduction, and analysis
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in 3D CAD programs (Creo Pro/E and Pro/E Piping) and PDM (Windchill)
- Knowledge in the use of FEA analysis tools (ANSYS preferred)
- Knowledge of the application and use of welding
- Experience with high pressure and cryogenic systems
- Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
