Requirements

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering
  • 5+ years of experience with spacecraft or launch vehicle fluid system component design or test
  • Experience with aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicles in the detail design of aerospace or equivalent type fluid systems and components
  • Proficiency in crafting engineering drawings with GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • Working knowledge of fluid components such as valves, tubing, fittings, pressurized hardware, seals, and bearings
  • Proven understanding of material properties and treatments
  • Component testing and qualification experience
  • Knowledge of fabrication, integration processes and quality control relative to valves, machined components
  • Experience with design for reliability, manufacturability, assemble-ability, operability
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Responsibilities

  • You will design, develop, and qualify individual fluid subsystems (i.e., propellant fill / drain, pressurization, pneumatics, etc.)
  • Design and route fluid subsystems (i.e., pressurization, pneumatics, reaction control)
  • Complete trade studies to select components and system schema that meet performance, cost, manufacturability, and schedule requirements
  • Work with fluid components (i.e., solenoid valves, thrusters, pressure vessels, and instrumentation).
  • Work with 3D CAD programs (Creo preferred) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) programs (ANSYS Preferred).
  • Deliver completed designs using best draft practicing per ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards along with clear and well documented analysis reports.
  • Work closely with other groups to ensure your systems work together, resolving issues with calculated risk.
  • Following design efforts, you will lead and participate in component and system level testing and data analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD programs (Creo Pro/E and Pro/E Piping)
  • Experience with cryogenic and oxygen systems
  • Hands on experience building and testing complex mechanical assemblies
  • Solid understanding of fabrication, integration processes, and quality control techniques relevant to tubes, machined components, and welded hardware
  • Experience with Type III or Type IV COPVs
  • Experience with nozzles and thrust vectoring
  • Knowledge in the use of FEA analysis tools (ANSYS preferred)
