Requirements

  • Passionate about a career in credit research with a strong interest in municipal bond investing.
  • 2-5 years of experience in credit research or related field (experience covering tax-exempt/municipal credit is preferred; exposure to healthcare/hospitals and charter schools is a plus).
  • Strong desire to continue to develop bottom-up fundamental credit research skills working in partnership with experienced investment professionals.
  • Experience with fundamental credit analysis, working with sell-side firms and industry consultants, Bloomberg, utilizing research tools, trade publications, online sources, regulatory filings, etc., and interpreting this information to generate insightful analysis.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain comprehensive charts and visualizations to support credit analysis and communicate investment insights effectively.
  • Thrives in team settings, asks good questions, bounces ideas off others, and proactively shares perspective.
  • Enjoys learning new things and can flex to varying work styles and expectations.
  • Inquisitive mind, demonstrating intellectual curiosity and analytical skills in areas of high complexity surrounding financial markets and industry trends.

  • Available for occasional travel on research trips to meet with issuer constituents and investment professionals.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, STEM or a relevant field of study.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely and collaborate with Fixed Income Investment Professionals and peers to deliver valuable insights.
  • Conduct bottom-up fundamental research and analysis that will drive investment decisions.
  • Partner with investors on their coverage to help generate investment ideas and monitor holdings by conducting deep fundamental research on municipal bond issuers.
  • Facilitate meetings with issuer stakeholders, sell-side firms, and industry specialists.
  • Conduct relative value comparison and work as a key contributor in the municipal credit investment process.
  • Work on projects with growing complexity over time, receiving guidance and mentorship from experienced investment professionals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with programming languages (Python, SQL, R), data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI) and data platforms (Amazon S3, Snowflake, Databricks) is a plus, but not necessary.
