Requirements

  • Baccalaureate in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • One year of full-time experience in payroll and timekeeping related area for Finance Specialist – A
  • Two years of full-time experience in accounting, payroll, timekeeping, or budget related area for Finance Specialist – B
  • A satisfactory combination of education and experience
  • Proven experience in a payroll position required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of tax and wage laws
  • Strong computer literacy including proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and process payroll/timekeeping records and changes such as salary changes, job changes, deduction changes, new hires and terminations
  • Perform calculations such as wage computation, overtime payment, other earnings and deductions
  • Prepare payroll reconciliation such as earnings, deductions and taxes
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports to external organizations/agencies
  • Reconcile data discrepancies between internal and external payroll records
  • Monitor employee timesheets for timely and accurate submission and compliance with policy
  • Review internal financial systems, databases, and/or documents for accuracy and completeness of financial records and balances
  • Provide customer service to internal and external constituents
  • Review payroll and timekeeping documents prepared by junior team members
  • Perform audits and participate in special projects as needed
  • Assist in filing and archiving payroll documents
