Requirements
- Baccalaureate in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- One year of full-time experience in payroll and timekeeping related area for Finance Specialist – A
- Two years of full-time experience in accounting, payroll, timekeeping, or budget related area for Finance Specialist – B
- A satisfactory combination of education and experience
- Proven experience in a payroll position required
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of tax and wage laws
- Strong computer literacy including proficiency in MS Office applications
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
Responsibilities
- Maintain and process payroll/timekeeping records and changes such as salary changes, job changes, deduction changes, new hires and terminations
- Perform calculations such as wage computation, overtime payment, other earnings and deductions
- Prepare payroll reconciliation such as earnings, deductions and taxes
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports to external organizations/agencies
- Reconcile data discrepancies between internal and external payroll records
- Monitor employee timesheets for timely and accurate submission and compliance with policy
- Review internal financial systems, databases, and/or documents for accuracy and completeness of financial records and balances
- Provide customer service to internal and external constituents
- Review payroll and timekeeping documents prepared by junior team members
- Perform audits and participate in special projects as needed
- Assist in filing and archiving payroll documents
