Requirements

  • Requires a four-year degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Statistics, Finance, or Public Administration and ability to successfully perform the essential job duties.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, a criminal background check, DMV report and be eligible for a City Driving permit.

Responsibilities

  • Apprentice will participate in all aspects of public transportation services and may spend time observing the general manager and the governing or advisory board as they carry out management and policy duties.
  • Apprentice is required to complete independent research or a special project.
  • Guarantee adherence to Federal, State, and Local regulations by possessing a comprehensive understanding of the financial management guidelines concerning source documentation, permissible costs, and internal controls at all governmental levels.
  • Responsibilities include monitoring invoices through the approval process from beginning to end and communicating analyses and issues in both written and oral formats.
  • Work on financial projects under the guidance of the Chief Financial Officer, the Budget Manager, the Financial Reporting Manager, and the Accounts Payable Manager.
  • Develops and/or administers processes to ensure the fiscal integrity of all invoice payment requests, ensuring proper documentation is received and retained, and that all requests for payment are substantiated.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.
  • As part of your responsibility to support the CATS Safety Culture, report safety concerns and issues through the various methods established by CATS as outlined in the ASP.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to plan, prioritize and organize work and complete assignments with supervision
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products and outputs
  • Attention to detail and ability to think critically and independently strongly desired.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to learn CATS processes and ask appropriate questions.
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to participate and work well in a team environment.
