Requirements
- Two years of experience in farm work or maintaining livestock; OR equivalent education/experience.
- Experience in food manufacturing work; OR equivalent education/experience.
- Must have or be able to obtain within fourteen (14) days of hire, a Washington State Food Handler’s permit.
- Must have or be able to obtain within thirty (30) days of hire, First Aid certification.
- Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed. This position often works into the evening and occasional Saturdays.
- Experience with office software, such as databases, spreadsheets, word processing.
Responsibilities
- Ensures smooth operation of cheese making processes at the Creamery.
- Makes cheese and all jobs associated with that process from receiving milk into the cheese vat to getting the cheese into its final package.
- Helps with the manufacture of ice cream.
- Conscientiously completes the required documentation of all steps of the process.
- Safely prepares the equipment for the next day’s operation.
- Trains student employees in these same tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Understand basic sanitation.
- Experience in a dairy processing facility.
- Experience training others.
