Requirements
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Two years’ experience in general construction, carpentry, fire-stopping, or painting
- Obtain a valid OSHA 10-hour General Industry Safety and Health card within the probationary period
- Demonstrated competence in two of the following technical specialties: rough carpentry, finishing, fire-stopping, flooring
- May require valid State of Ohio driver license
Responsibilities
- Perform renovation and restoration tasks to maintain the aesthetic components of the facilities interior and exterior
- Modify and install drywall, doors, windows, ceilings and flooring
- Inspect and repair fire rated walls and doors
- Respond to emergency situations and evaluate and correct defects
- Assist lower level facilities technicians and other trades as needed
- Document labor, materials and work performed on work orders
- Communicate and initiate work order escalation, if needed
- Participate in professional development/continuing education activities
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates/technical degree or certificate in skilled trades/maintenance related field
- Valid fire-stopping card
- Basic understanding of university building design standards (BDS) related to the maintenance and repair of building systems and equipment
- Basic understanding of the project process as managed by FOD Design and Construction
